Many of us have been tempted to buy a cheap guitar that looks great, especially new players who may not want to spend too much on a hobby that they are not sure they will stick to in the long run. The question is, can a cheap guitar satisfy both new and experienced guitarists? In other words, are cheap guitars any good?

The short answer is yes, but the long answer is that it depends on a few factors.

What Constitutes A Cheap Guitar?

Most guitarists typically categorize guitars based on their price range. Instruments priced under $400 are usually considered low-end while those ranging from $400 to $1200 are considered mid-range. High-end instruments can range from $1200 to $2500, while anything above $2500 is usually considered a pro-level or custom-built guitar.

The difference between guitars is determined by various factors, such as the location where it was built, the components used in the build, and the level of quality control implemented. Lower-end options usually have lower labor costs, lower quality components, and lack strict quality control which affects the overall build quality.
