While throwing one’s self down a mountain seems like a odd thing, we can, oddly enough, gain some insights on how to improve our writing from it.
Skiers must build a strong sense of balance to do the sport well and they must always stay in control. If not, the results can be...painful.
Stay Balanced
When learning to ski, you must have a good sense of balance. Without balance, then it’s (unfortunately) likely that you would fall when making a turn. Putting too much, or even not enough, pressure on one leg is going to result in butts on the ground.
In writing, balance is a little more abstract but important. Going too far into a tone, such as humor, can be too much for people. On the other hand, going to much into the opposite, tragedy, can also be too much for people.
Finding the…write balance can be difficult but necessary to keep your readers engaged for long periods.
