Government takes their times to do anything. Committees that take years to look into something. Debate after debate. Elected officials will tour and gather input or speak to the public about a topic.

The process can be slow. What the general population doesn’t see is that things seem to always moving behind the scenes. But its common for work to get stuck during long review processes or sit waiting for approval for long periods.

Having worked inside of the government, I’ve seen first hand the hustle and bustle that happens. Admittedly, I’ve always worked in healthcare policy related areas which are some of the busier government departments.

Let’s take a look at how the internal workings of government can shows some important elements that could be implemented in our writing routines.

Always Have a Plan

Plans are (obviously) important. Even if it didn’t seem like it, the government always had plans created for pandemics. They may have a had a little dust on them, though.

Of course, the plans weren’t always up to date and didn’t account for the backlash received. So they changed and adapted as needed. They changed as the virus adapted.
